Quality Assurance

qqi-5D8CEC is a QQI Quality Assured Centre.
We aim to continuously deliver a high standard of courses that meet the demand of our community in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Components for QQI Certification

Assessment differs on every QQI Component, but you tutor will explain everything to you. If you are falling behind with your work, please contact your tutor who can help, and you can apply for more time to complete your assessment work if necessary.

Protection for Enrolled Learners (PEL) Policy

The programmes delivered by D8CEC that lead to a QQI award are all free of charge to all learners accepted onto the programme. Therefore, no learners are required to pay fees and protection for enrolled learners with regard to the refund of fees is not applicable.

D8CEC has in place a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) which is an agreement that in the event D8CEC is unable to deliver the programme in full, D8CEC learners can complete their studies with CDETB at no charge to the learner.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Please do not worry if you have no formal qualifications- you should contact Rachel the D8 CEC manager to discuss how we recognise your work and life experiences so that you can apply for courses.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) To support the development and implementation of RPL with regard to access, granting credit/exemptions and achievement of awards/parts of awards, providers should refer to QQI’s Statutory Guidelines for Quality Assurance, the Policies and Criteria for Validation of Programmes and the Principles and Operational Guidelines for the Recognition of Prior Learning

Access To access programmes leading to this award the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications. This may have been achieved through a formal qualification or through relevant life and work experience.

Transfer Achievement of this award will enable the learner to transfer to other appropriate programmes leading to awards at the same level of the National Framework of Qualifications.

Progression and Course Evaluation

The Centre Manager operates an open-door policy if you wish to discuss any matter, regarding training, employment or any other issues. There are also one to one chats with learner, tutors and /or manager to discuss future plans e.g. What other courses you would like to do? What job or further training would you like? What further steps you will need to take to achieve your goal?

Plan for continuity of learning

In the case of absenteeism/sick leave or temporary Centre closures, support continued access to quality education. This can include:

  • Use of online/e-learning strategies
  • Assigning reading and exercises for home study
  • Assigning teachers to conduct remote daily or weekly follow up with students
  • Review/develop accelerated education strategies

Learners Appeals

D8 CEC CLG have a learner appeals policy in place and if you feel that your work has not been assessed fairly you should contact the D8 CEC CLG Manager. You can arrange to see your work with the Manager who will explain how it has been marked. If you are still not happy then you can appeal your result in writing. A tutor from another Training Centre will re-correct it and see if you have a different grade. The decision of the second tutor is final.
